Rhino-Rack Cross Bar Set — BYD Shark 6 with Roller Shutter Fitted
This is an add-on cross bar kit that mounts on top of a roller shutter you already have fitted — it is not a roller shutter itself. It turns your closed tub into a load platform for ladders, pipe, kayaks, boards and timber, using Rhino-Rack's quick-release mounting legs so the bars lift off in seconds when you don't need them. 1500mm bars, supplied and fitted at our Chipping Norton workshop in Sydney.
Will This Fit My Setup?
| Vehicle | BYD Shark 6, 2025 onwards — dual cab pick-up (Premium and Performance) |
| Requires | A roller shutter already fitted to the tub. The legs clamp to the shutter's side rails — no drilling into your tub or shutter. |
| Which roller shutters | Clamps to most roller shutters, including our own TIGER-X manual and electric covers. If you're not sure about yours, send us a photo of the shutter rails on 02 8773 1993 and we'll confirm before you buy. |
| Does NOT fit | Shark 6 Dynamic Cab Chassis (tray body, no tub or shutter). Tubs with a soft tonneau or no cover — the bars need the shutter's rails to clamp to. |
What "Quick Release" Actually Means
Rhino-Rack's quick-mount leg is a tool-free mounting system. Once the kit is fitted, the bars come off and go back on in under a minute without tools and without disturbing the mounts.
That matters more than it sounds. Cross bars left on permanently cost you fuel through wind drag, and they whistle at highway speed. With a quick-release system you run the bars on the weekend you're carrying the kayak and take them off on Monday. Most owners who fit permanently-mounted bars end up leaving them on out of sheer inconvenience and paying for it every day.
Load Rating
▪ 100kg maximum dynamic load for the bar pair — the rack system's own rating
▪ Your real limit is whichever is lower — the 100kg bars, or the load rating of the roller shutter they're mounted to. On a shutter-mounted setup the shutter is usually the deciding number, so check it before you load up.
▪ Dynamic is what you can carry while driving. Static is what it holds parked and is always higher — don't use the static figure to work out what you can drive around with.

Common Questions
Will it fit my roller shutter?
Most likely yes — the clamp-on legs suit the majority of roller shutters on the market, including our own. If you have a different brand and want to be certain, send us a photo of your shutter rails or call 02 8773 1993 and we'll check it for you before you order.
Do the bars stick out past the sides of the ute?
At 1500mm the bars run slightly wider than the tub, which is normal and intentional — it gives you usable overhang for strapping wide loads. Just be mindful of it in tight car parks and when passing close to fences or pillars.
Can I still open the roller shutter with the bars on?
Yes. The legs clamp to the side rails and the shutter rolls underneath them as normal.
Is this a roller shutter?
No. This is the cross bar kit that goes on top of a roller shutter you already own. If you're after the shutter itself, see our Shark 6 roller shutters.
Will it damage my roller shutter?
The legs clamp rather than drill, so the shutter stays unmodified and the bars can be removed completely with no trace. Loading beyond the shutter's rating is what causes damage — see the load rating above.
Can I carry a ladder on it?
That's exactly what most owners buy it for. Check the ladder's weight against the 100kg limit, and use proper tie-downs at both bars — not a single strap in the middle.
